Key understanding of the Spendl Ecosystem

This glossary explains the key terms used across the Spendl Money documentation, app, card plans, wallet features, digital assets, payments, and business products.

### Account and Security Terms

| Term                   | Meaning                                                                                                                             |
| ---------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| 2FA                    | Two Factor Authentication. An extra security layer that requires a password and a second verification code before access is granted |
| KYC                    | Know Your Customer. The identity verification process used to confirm who a user is before unlocking account features and limits    |
| Verification Tier      | The account level assigned to a user based on completed KYC requirements                                                            |
| Smart                  | Spendl account tier with a R25,000 upper limit                                                                                      |
| Savvy                  | Spendl account tier with a R100,000 upper limit                                                                                     |
| Guru                   | Spendl account tier with a R500,000 upper limit                                                                                     |
| Monthly Limit          | The maximum amount a user can transact, top up, or access within a month based on their approved tier                               |
| Compliance             | The checks, rules, and controls that help Spendl operate within approved financial and regulatory requirements                      |
| Transaction Monitoring | The process of reviewing transaction activity to help detect risk, fraud, misuse, or unusual behaviour                              |
| Fraud Screening        | Security checks used to help identify suspicious activity before or after a transaction takes place                                 |

### Spendl Wallet and Account Terms

| Spendl Wallet     | The main wallet inside the Spendl App where available user funds are held and managed                 |
| Wallet Balance    | The available funds sitting inside a user’s Spendl Wallet                                             |
| Fiat Balance      | A balance held in traditional currency, such as South African Rand                                    |
| ZAR               | South African Rand                                                                                    |
| Deposit           | Incoming funds sent into a Spendl account or wallet                                                   |
| Crypto Deposit    | Supported digital assets sent into a Spendl wallet address                                            |
| Fiat Funding      | Adding fiat value into Spendl through supported funding methods                                       |
| Crypto Funding    | Funding Spendl using supported digital assets as one available funding method                         |
| Top Up            | Adding available funds to a Spendl Card balance from the Spendl Wallet                                |
| Card Balance      | The amount available on a user’s Spendl Card after funds have been loaded                             |
| Available Balance | Funds that can be used, sent, loaded, converted, or spent depending on the feature and account status |

### Card and Spending Terms

| Card Loading               | Moving funds from the Spendl Wallet onto the Spendl Card                                                                                    |
| POS                        | Point of Sale. In store card purchases made at a merchant terminal                                                                          |
| Online Payment             | A card payment made through a website, app, or online checkout                                                                              |
| International Spending     | Using the Spendl Card for supported purchases outside South Africa or with international merchants                                          |
| Spending Limit             | The maximum amount that can be spent based on the user’s account tier, card settings, or platform rules                                     |
| Usage Controls             | Rules that control how, where, or when a card or balance can be used                                                                        |

### Payments and Transfers

| Spendl Transfer        | A transfer between Spendl users                                                    |
| Instant Transfer       | A transfer between Spendl users that happens instantly and at no cost              |
| External Bank Transfer | A transfer from Spendl to a supported external bank account                        |
| EFT                    | Electronic Funds Transfer. A bank to bank transfer                                 |
| Payout                 | Funds sent from Spendl to an external account, user, recipient, or payout method   |
| Payout Speed           | How quickly funds are processed and made available                                 |
| Normal Payment         | A standard payment that may follow normal banking processing times                 |
| Fast Payment           | A faster payment option where supported                                            |
| Beneficiary            | A saved person, business, account, or payout destination used for payments         |
| Recipient              | The person or account receiving funds                                              |
| Settlement             | The process where funds are completed and made available after a transaction       |
| Reconciliation         | Matching payments, balances, and records to confirm that money movement is correct |

### Digital Asset Terms

| Digital Asset            | A supported crypto asset that can be deposited, held, moved, converted, or used as a funding method inside Spendl |
| Crypto Asset             | Another term for a supported digital asset                                                                        |
| Trade                    | Converting or selling supported digital assets into fiat, such as ZAR                                             |
| Conversion               | Changing one supported balance type into another, such as crypto into ZAR                                         |
| Slippage                 | A small difference between the quoted price and the final execution price due to market movement                  |
| Blockchain Confirmations | Network confirmations that verify a digital asset transaction before it is credited                               |
| Network                  | The blockchain used to send a digital asset                                                                       |
| ERC20                    | The Ethereum token standard used by certain supported assets such as USDT and USDC on Ethereum                    |
| Deposit Address          | The wallet address provided for receiving a supported digital asset                                               |
| Deposit Tag or Memo      | An additional identifier required for some assets, such as XRP, where applicable                                  |
| Wrong Network Deposit    | A deposit sent using an unsupported or incorrect blockchain network. These funds may be permanently lost          |
| Withdrawal               | Sending supported digital assets or fiat funds out of Spendl where available                                      |
| Withdrawal Fee           | A fee charged when moving funds out of Spendl or to another destination, depending on the transaction type        |

### Voucher Terms

| Voucher Category     | The type of voucher, such as electricity, airtime, data, transport, gaming, or digital services       |
| Redeem               | Using a voucher for its intended product, service, or merchant category                               |
| Instant Allocation   | A voucher becoming available immediately after purchase                                               |
| Category Based Spend | Spend that is limited to approved categories or merchant types                                        |
| Structured Spending  | Allocating funds toward a specific purpose, such as rewards, benefits, allowances, or budgeting       |
| Redemption Activity  | The record of how and when a voucher is used                                                          |

### Remittance Terms

| Cash Transfer        | A payout made available for cash pickup through an approved payout partner                                                 |
| Cash Pickup          | A payout method where the recipient collects money from an approved location using identification and a transfer reference |
| Payout Partner       | An approved partner used to deliver funds to recipients in supported countries                                             |
| Transfer Reference   | A reference number used to track or collect a remittance payment                                                           |
| Supported Country    | A country where Spendl can support remittance payouts through available payout methods                                     |

### Business and Platform Terms

| B2B              | Business to Business. Services or infrastructure offered by Spendl to other businesses                                              |
| B2B2C            | Business to Business to Consumer. A business uses Spendl infrastructure to offer financial products to its own customers            |
| White Label      | A branded product experience powered by Spendl infrastructure but presented under another business’s brand                          |
| Branded Wallet   | A wallet experience launched by a business using Spendl infrastructure and its own brand layer                                      |
| Wallet Solution  | A Spendl solution that allows businesses to launch wallets, cards, vouchers, and digital asset features inside a branded experience |
| Embedded Finance | Financial features built directly into another company’s product, platform, or customer journey                                     |
| Financial OS     | The operating layer that connects accounts, cards, wallets, payments, compliance, permissions, and product access in one system     |
| Infrastructure   | The backend systems, regulated rails, accounts, cards, payments, and controls that power Spendl products                            |
| API              | Application Programming Interface. A technical connection that allows systems to communicate with Spendl services                   |
| Dashboard        | The interface used to view, manage, and control activity inside Spendl                                                              |
| Admin Dashboard  | A business control interface used to manage users, accounts, cards, permissions, reporting, and product activity                    |
| User Group       | A defined group of users, such as customers, employees, contractors, suppliers, or business teams                                   |
| Permission       | A rule that controls what a user or business can access or do                                                                       |
| Role             | A user type with specific permissions inside a business or platform setup                                                           |
| Reporting        | Visibility over transactions, balances, account activity, and operational records                                                   |

### Payroll and Treasury Terms

| Payroll             | A Spendl feature that allows businesses to automate salary payments to employees or workers     |
| Salary Payment      | A payment made by a business to an employee through payroll                                     |

| Recurring Payment   | A scheduled payment that repeats at defined intervals                                           |
| Payroll Rules       | The instructions that define who gets paid, how much they receive, and when payment takes place |
| Employee Account    | An account used by an employee to receive funds through Spendl                                  |
| Treasury            | Business management of balances, liquidity, accounts, currencies, and money flows               |
| Treasury Visibility | The ability to see and manage business funds across accounts, balances, and flows               |
| Funding Source      | The origin of funds used for spending, payroll, cards, vouchers, or payments                    |
| Liquidity           | Available funds that can be used for payments, settlements, or operations                       |

### Fees and Limits

| Fee                  | A charge applied to a transaction, service, withdrawal, conversion, card action, or payout |
| Conversion Fee       | A fee charged when converting between balance types, where applicable                      |
| Card Fee             | A fee linked to card usage, issuing, loading, or transactions, where applicable            |
| Withdrawal Fee       | A fee for moving funds out of Spendl or to another destination                             |
| Limit                | A maximum value applied to spending, transfers, withdrawals, deposits, or account usage    |
| Upper Limit          | The maximum value allowed under a specific plan, tier, or product rule                     |
| Tier Limit           | The limit assigned to a user based on their approved KYC tier                              |
| Terms and Conditions | The legal terms that govern use of Spendl products and services                            |
